Literature Text

A battle raged aboard the Black Pawkeet, and sword clashed against sword as Captain Garin and Captain Scarblade fought, and their crews fought around them. Scarblade made a stab at Garin, only to miss the smaller, more nimble pirate. Garin chuckled mockingly, but then he lifted his dagger to block a strike from another enemy crewmember. Scarblade snarled in both exhaustion and rage, grabbed up a pistol from his belt, and took aim as Garin shoved the enemy crewmember aside.

BANG! Scarblade's pistol went off… hitting its mark dead on. Garin gasped in pain and stumbled backwards, grabbing his chest just below the shoulder, and feeling an instant moistness under his hand. Garin bared his teeth to hold in a pain filled cry and shook his head, unaware that his best friend watched in horror from across the ship. Garin growled and raised his dagger again to make a charge at Scarblade, who took aim with a second pistol pulled from his belt…

BLAM! The second shot hit Garin in the chest again, causing him to gasp a second time and stumble against the railing. He gasped for breath and struggled to remain on his feet, for all was beginning to spin. Scarblade growled in rage and snatched a musket from one of his crew that stood to one side as they aimed, then raised it to eye level, pointed it at Garin… and pulled the trigger.

POW! The third… and final shot. Garin lost all feeling in his body, all sound faded out, and his sight began to blur as everyone stopped everything they were doing to stare at him. Garin glanced around as his vision began to fade out completely, and saw the ocean's waves had turned a deep red.

"A… A red sea?" he asked himself. "…Huh… Appropriate…"

Then he closed his eyes and fell backwards off the deck, sinking down into the depths…

Garin's crew and friends stood there in disbelief, almost trying to drown out Scarblade's near mad laughter… but then they found it only fueled them. One by one, starting with Jacques, they attacked the tall, ruthless buccaneer, trying to stab or shoot him, but his all together mass and his crew to help, and he escaped onto his ship.

Jacques walked over to the side of the ship and fell to his knees where Garin had stood last, his tears making it hard to see the blood on the wooden deck, but he picked up his best friend's dagger, which had fallen from his grasp just before he fell, and gripped the handle tight.

He couldn't believe he was gone…
Sort of a teaser trailer of a first chapter... It makes for good suspense and torture devices.

lol

Anyway, here it is, and the next chapter will be up ASAP at the request of a close friend.
