RPS: Night Angels...

Faydra sat watching as four figures approached the tower, giving an excited giggle before retreating into the tower to greet them.

Brooklyn landed on all fours and arched his back as he did, moving forward slightly to allow Broadway and Lexington to land behind him and set Bronx down.

"Phew! I think I pulled a muscle…" he said, standing up on two feet and putting a hand to his back, stretching slightly. A 'pop' was heard, and he sighed. "Ahh… that's better."

"What do you guys say we head for the kitchen? I'm starved!" Broadway said.

"But we just ate!" Lexington said, a bit baffled by Broadway's almost endless appetite.

"Well I'm still hungry." Broadway replied, laying both hands on his stomach. Brooklyn rolled his eyes… not seeing the figure in the shadows, creeping up behind him.

"BROOKLYN!!" Faydra shouted, as she sprang up out of the shadows and tackled Brooklyn to the ground playfully. He let out a startled cry, but laughed as the female Gargoyle nuzzled his chest and her tail wagged happily. He sat up and kissed the top of her head.

"Happy to see me, Fay?" he asked, knowing the obvious answer. Faydra looked up at him and pushed her lips against his, letting out a giggle as she did. Lexington and Broadway smiled at the two.

"Do you two wanna be alone?" Lex asked, chuckling slightly. Bronx barked openly and walked right up to them, giving them both a wet lick to their faces. Brooklyn laughed and rubbed Bronx's head as he stood and helped Faydra up, smiling at her.

She had only been living with them for about five months, but even so, those five months were more than enough for the relationship between her and Brooklyn to go into full swing. The two of them walked arm and arm to another rampart on the castle grounds. Broadway had to pick Bronx up to keep him from following them, so the two could actually be alone for a while.

"How was patrol?" Faydra asked.

"Dull. Not even a police siren." Brooklyn replied. "A good thing I suppose, but I wouldn't have minded some action."

"I know how you feel, but now, we have the evening to ourselves." Faydra purred, nuzzling into his shoulder. Brooklyn was glad his skin color was already red, because his blush would have been enough to frighten away the Vikings…

"Yeah…" He said, stopping and pulling her into an embrace. "Nothing like you, me, and a little peace n'--"

BOOM!!! A loud explosion in the midst of the city caused both their heads to turn as the bright red glow of fire and smoke began to appear.

"--Quiet." Brooklyn finished bluntly, letting go of Faydra as footfalls approached from behind and the other Gargoyles joined them.

"What was it?" Hudson asked in shock.

"We're going to find out. Angela, Faydra and Bronx, stay here. The rest of us will investigate!" Goliath said as he stood on the battlement.

"But--" Faydra started, and Brooklyn took her hand in both of his.

"I'll be back, Fay," he said. "I promise." He leaned in and kissed her cheek, then took off after the others. Faydra watched him go, then sadly looked down to the street below as thunder sounded overhead.

Two hours passed… and they still had not returned. Faydra stood in the doorway, the rainfall just inches away from her face, her wings wrapped around her to keep the cold at bay, and a worried frown on her face. They should have been back by now… the news said the explosion was accidental, and no one had been hurt… and something just didn't seem right. Faydra looked down as a whimpering groan sounded at her side, and she found Bronx sitting beside her, looking at her sadly. She looked back out at the rain.

"I'm worried, Bronx…" she said, though she knew she was stating the obvious. Bronx whimpered again and rubbed against her leg. Faydra stayed still for a moment, then knelt down and gently rubbed his head.

"I'm going to look for them," she said. "Stay here with Angela, boy. I'll be back!" Then she ran out into the rain and took off into the air.

When she arrived at the sight of the explosion, the rain had died down significantly and allowed her to search the wreckage for any signs of the others. She landed on a nearby rooftop and closed her eyes, trying to sense for the auras of her friends and lover…

But found nothing. She frowned and sat on the building's edge, and watched as a police car drove up to the sight, and alone figure got out of it. Faydra felt her heart jump. It was Elisa! Maybe she knew where they were! She flew down and landed behind the black haired detective.

"Elisa!" she said. The woman gasped and turned quickly, pulling out a pistol, but upon seeing Faydra, lowered her weapon with a sigh.

"Oh gosh, don't scare me like that!"

"My apologies," Faydra said. "But have you seen Brooklyn and the others?"

"I saw Goliath, Hudson and Broadway just a few minutes ago," Elisa replied. "They had split up to try and follow a truck they saw leaving after the explosion."

Faydra frowned. "But no sign of Brooklyn?" she asked.

"No but I'm sure he's okay. He and Lex may have found where the truck was going." Elisa replied. "I know you're worried, Faydra, but he'll be okay. Goliath didn't chose him as second in command for nothing!"

"…I hope you're right Elisa."

After reassuring the worrying female Gargoyle a little longer, Elisa left and Faydra walked to the nearest building into order to climb it and gain enough altitude for flight… but then, she sensed something… another aura approaching.

Faydra felt her eyes glow white in slight anticipation of danger, and her claws scratched the wall of the building. She calmed herself a bit, then turned to face the stranger…
